No Book But The Bible

“But the word of the LORD endures forever. Now this is the word which by the gospel was preached to you’”

(Peter 1:25 NKJV)

In contrast with the grass that withers and flowers that fade, the word of God endures forever. It is the word which we have heard preached by faithful gospel preachers who cried, “No book but the Bible!” The Bible is sufficient. In it God has granted to us “all things that pertain to life and godliness” (2 Peter 1:3). Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God (Romans 10:17).

Creeds, confessions, and catechisms are unnecessary. All we need is in the Bible, but we need all of the Bible. All Scripture is inspired of God and is profitable (2 Timothy 3:16). God has a plan for your life. It is a total plan. And it is contained in the Bible, the only book we really need for life here and to prepare us for in the hereafter. All other books were given for information, but the Bible was given to us for our transformation.

The Psalmist gives us a noble challenge: “Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against Thee.” Psalm 119:11.

The home is a nice place for the Bible. The hand is a good place, as well. But I tell you, the heart and the head are the best places to store the Bible.

Do you ever ask yourself, “Why do I always cave in when temptation comes? Why can’t I be an overcomer? Where is my breakthrough?”

Well, let me ask you this question: How much time are you spending reading, meditating, and studying the Word of God?

Take this challenge this week. For each hour you spend watching television, spend 15 minutes in the Bible. For every hour you work out at the gym, spend 15 minutes in the Bible. Then tell me what a difference this has made in your life.
